Soroptimist in Latin means “best for women” . There are at present 90,000
members in more than 3000 clubs in 124 countries.

It is into official relation with UNESCO and WHO

First club was found in 1921 in California USA. Soroptimist International of
Bangalore was founded by Dr. Nalini Subbaiah on February 16th 2003.

Ever since the club was initiated, a lot of good work has been carried out
in the past by the members and the committee. Some of the outstanding
achievements in the recent past have been the Lambani village project,
drug abuse awareness among school children, immunization programme,
creating website, fistful of rice programme, “stars of tomorrow”, painting
competition are to name a few most commendable and successfully
implemented.

Some of us have been very active in pursuing project ideas, planning and
execution while a few others including myself have been laggards at project
implementation. Not all five fingers are the same size and so are our efforts.
Big or small, we are here to do our best We can and we will.
Transparency of details and adhering to proper norms in the working of
the organization will provide efficacy, productivity and cohesiveness in the
group.
Like the old saying, United, we win, Divided, we fall.
With regard to party politics and controversy Soroptimist International
maintains a position of strict neutrality.

We will work like our favouite cricket team, be a sport wherein each one
does her bit .Teamwork, dedication, sincerity, commitment will take us
places as it has done so far.

Here is a small forward on my email and I wish to share it with you.

I believe
That just because two people argue
It does’nt mean they don’t love each other
And just because they don’t argue
It does’nt mean they do love each other.

I believe
No matter how good a friend is
They are going to hurt you every once in a while
And you must forgive him for that.

I believe
That you can keep going long after you think you can’t

I believe
That heroes are the people who do what has to be done
When it needs to be done regardless of the consequences

Each one of us has a hero within us.

Our background and circumstances may have influenced us but we are responsible for
who we become and what we do.

Together we can achieve the impossible.

Rema has briefed us about the noteworthy projects so far. The same enthusiasm will
prevail in pursuing and completing project tasks.
